News Update! Woo!

Woo, News!
First and foremost, on behalf of the 2D6 staff, I wanted to take a moment to thank those of you that have been sending emails and posting replies here / on our Board Game Geek review threads. The intent of our first three videos was essentially to acquire community feedback and to get the site launched with content.

Based on your feedback, we’ve taken some time to consider areas in which we could improve upon our current reviews, while not dramatically increasing the video duration length or overall production time required to produce each review. We’ve come up with the following changes that, we believe, will make watching our next batch of reviews that much more enjoyable.

- The focus of forthcoming reviews will be newer games. We would like to shed light on new products as (or not long after) they are released. By no means does this insinuate that we will never again review old games.

- In forthcoming reviews, we will include a separate, very basic flash / video tutorial on how each game is played. Make note that, being that our videos are meant to be reviews and not tutorials, our game explanations will be very basic. Ultimately, our goal is to provide our viewers with enough information to make round table discussion relevant.

- We will be incorporating two camera production techniques and varying camera angles during the cutaway play footage. We want to take more advantage of the visual medium by making our cutaway footage a bit more involved.

- We will be slightly streamlining our review criteria by removing the presentation criterion and merging it into the craftsmanship section. Future reviews will include: Craftsmanship, accessibility, gameplay, replayability, and final verdict sections respectively.

As always, we’re interested in your feedback – so let us know! Feel free to comment below OR email us.

Cool, look forward to the new reviews. I liked the Race for the Galaxy review a lot, but am kinda on the fence about picking it up, like your reviewers seemed to be. Guess I’ll wait to try it out first-hand.

I liked the Dominion review more than RftG, dunno why. Maybe cause Dominion had more cats wandering around than the other review. And I’ve pretty much decided to pick up Dominion based on your review. The video review format is great, I like hearing the inflection and tone when people discuss something, rather than just reading a review on a website.

Good job guys. Looking forward to Thunderstone and Summoner Wars reviews!
