Tic-Tac-Toe (A Video Review)

1 April 2012 10 Comments

An ancient board game that predates the Cold War, Tic-Tac-Toe is the precursor to such modern day classics as El Grande and the Crayon Rail Series.

I am a little disappointed by the fact that you did not mention the wargame elements of the game. After all, this is pretty much THE game that introduced the concept of lines of supply to the wargaming word, by simulating the establishing of a 3-point line of supply across the territory while also cutting the supplies of the opponent. This aside, great review!!!!!!

    Damn, Joel.

Why do you have to review all these OOP games?

Thanks Joel for the instructions for constructing the game. I have played solitaire, and I find it works best when substituting a “Y” for the traditional “O”. This variation may not appeal to some, but it does keep the spirit of the original design. Thanks again ~ Bill

Sorry for reviewing OOP games sometimes. This is a game that completely flew under the radar and pre-dates the era of the Video Review.

    Greetings:

I am Arthur Dent of the legal firm Dewey, Cheatem and Howe. I represent a client who is the sole owner of the copyright on the game “Tic Tac Toe” (known in the UK as “Noughts and Crosses”). My client feels that your video, detailing the process for constructing home made sets of the Game has infringed his copyright interest, as now anyone will be able to produce cheap, home made versions and not have to pay my client royalties. We intend to sue for millions. Enjoy your April fool’s Day!

Regarding the “Z” Scenario: That is sometimes called the “Zombie” variant. But, since all things “Zombie” are considered “lame” by those in the know, I did not feel I should cover it in the video.

Don’t forget the complex American Football variant with multidirectional arrows that majorly ups the chaos and randomness, with a theme of a money centric bloodbath.

I’m impressed that you took my full solo play concept to this classic!
