4000 A.D. (Video Review)

4000 AD is a unique game of strategy set two thousand years in the future, when men have spread to the planets of other stars hundreds of light-years from the earth. An interstellar conflict between worlds is its subject. The concept of star travel by hyper-space is the basis of its unique playing character.
4000 AD is pure strategy of movement, with no chance element. Two to four players may play independently or in alliance with others.

Recovering hobo, one-time actor and street corner philosopher, now trying to enjoy the less fine things in life (like everyone else does).
One thing has been nearly constant in my life - gaming. Even before discovering wargames (at the tender age of 10 or so - purely fortuitous), I would play out family games (including the 3M series) solitaire. But, life situations interfered not too long ago, and I was largely without board gaming for the better part of a decade. The last couple of years have seen me devoting myself to the hobby again - and learning a lot of the newer designs - so, I'm looking from the eyes of an old grognard (ah, how I fought against THAT term when first used on me) but an open mind and willingness to see if newer games appeal.

Dear Gamer-Friends,
I always enjoid the game. But in the beginning I didn`t got it because of the two demensional concept ( yellow and red planets ).
Also I had hoped to get a game that would be more like RISK.
Later on I started to see its point. Even single it is fun, when you like chess riddles like me.
I am also a great SF Fan and I like it as an intelligent Space-Game, there are not to many. I also enjoyed the Info about the Astronomy lesson in the on flyer. Sometimes I replay then my games by just looking up in the sky at night. AND don´t forget the Three Player version has on the one board half MIRA as the Players system.
A very odd game. I HAD to obtain it again after losing
it in a move, but I doubt it will get played much.
